The company continued to operate a free website for the sharing of teaching/learning tools and methods, ideas and other information in relation to working with children and adults with communication difficulties (commtap.org). Key activities of the company within this year have included: - Running and maintaining the free communication support resources website. - Provision of software to allow teachers and other professionals to add communication symbols to text in PowerPoint documents (the Commtap Symboliser for PowerPoint) – this supports children and adults with reading, learning or communication differences to access text. - Continued development of a coaching programme for mainstream teachers in using communication symbols to support children in their classes (“SymbolGo”). - Running an online dictionary of key word signs – used by and with people with communication differences.
Consultation in this year has taken the form of: - Email support for users of the websites and software. - Data collection via the website which includes information – provided optionally by users – about their profession, general location, and general information about the groups of people they support. - Feedback from teachers when we deliver the communication symbols coaching to mainstream teachers. - Announcements and feedback on social media – through Commtap’s Facebook group and Bluesky account.
