Notes to the Financial Statements
1. General Information
SAR UK Ltd is a private company, limited by shares, incorporated in England & Wales, registered number 06329371 . The registered office is Unit 14b Station Field Industrial Estate , Kidlington, OX5 1JD.
2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 section 1A Small Entities "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Companies Act 2006.
2.2. Significant judgements and estimations
Work in Progress and Estimation Uncertainty
Work in progress on long-term contracts is stated at the value of work performed at the reporting date, measured by reference to the proportion of revenue invoiced or received relative to the total expected contract revenue, less any foreseeable losses.
Profit is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of each contract at the balance sheet date, determined using revenue billed/received as a proxy for progress.
This method requires management to make estimates of total contract revenues, total contract costs, costs to complete, and the expected outcome of each contract.
The preparation of these financial statements requires management to exercise judgement in applying accounting policies and in estimating the outcome of long-term contracts. Actual results may differ from these estimates. Any revisions to estimates are recognised in the period in which they become known.
2.3. Turnover
Turnover comprises the fair value of the consideration received or receivable for the sale of goods and provision of services in the ordinary course of the company’s activities. Turnover is shown net of sales/value added tax, returns, rebates and discounts.
The company recognises revenue when the amount of revenue can be reliably measured; it is probable that future economic benefits will flow to the entity and specific criteria have been met for each of the company's activities.
When working on projects with a long lead time, the revenue is recognised by the stage of completion of the project for cases where the contract allows for the company to be rewarded as such.
2.4. Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses.
The cost of tangible fixed assets includes directly attributable incremental costs incurred in their acquisition and installation.
Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases:
Plant & Machinery 25% straight line
Motor Vehicles 25% Straight line
Computer Equipment 33% Straight line
2.5. Stocks and Work in Progress
Stocks are stated at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell. Cost is determined using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method.
The cost of finished goods and stocks comprises direct materials, direct labour, and attributable overheads incurred in bringing them to their present location and condition.
Stocks and work in progress are reviewed at each reporting date for impairment. Where the carrying amount exceeds estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell, it is written down to its recoverable amount. Any impairment is recognised immediately in profit or loss.

2.6. Foreign Currencies
Monetary assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the balance sheet date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate ruling on the date of the transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating profit.
2.7. Taxation
Income tax expense represents the amount of tax currently payable.
The tax currently payable is based on taxable profit for the year. Taxable profit differs from the profit as reported in the statement of comprehensive income due to items of income or expense that are taxable or deductible in other years and items that are never taxable or deductible. The company’s liability for current tax is calculated using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period.
Current tax is recognised in profit or loss for the year, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity, in which case the related tax is also recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity respectively.
2.8. Pensions
The company operates a defined pension contribution scheme. Contributions are charged to the profit and loss account as they become payable in accordance with the rules of the scheme.
