During the year it was identified that the accounting policy note in the prior year financial statements incorrectly stated that plant and machinery were depreciated using the reducing balance method at a rate of 25% per annum.
The company has always applied depreciation using the straight-line method at a rate of 20% per annum, and this method was correctly applied in the preparation of the financial statements.
The error related only to the wording of the accounting policy disclosure and had no impact on the depreciation charge, profit for the year, or the carrying value of fixed assets reported in the prior year financial statements.
The accounting policy note has been corrected in the current year financial statements to reflect the correct depreciation method.
