Warm Baby Project CIC – Annual Report on Community Benefit Overview During the past financial year, Warm Baby Project CIC has continued to provide practical support to families experiencing financial hardship by supplying warm, hand-knitted clothing, blankets and essential items for babies and young children. Our work has continued to reach families locally and throughout the UK, with the generous support of our dedicated volunteers, knitting groups and community partners. The demand for our services has remained high, and we are proud to have continued supporting hospitals, baby banks and families while strengthening our network of volunteers across the country. We have also begun work on developing a new website, made possible through grant funding, which will improve access to our services, provide information for families and professionals, and help us reach even more volunteers and supporters. Community Impact Supporting Families Throughout the year, we have distributed warm knitted clothing and blankets to babies and children up to seven years of age through our baby bank, community organisations, playgroups and local outreach. Families facing financial difficulties or living in cold homes have continued to receive practical support, helping ensure that children have suitable clothing during the colder months. We have also continued to post parcels directly to families across the UK who are unable to collect items in person, ensuring that distance is not a barrier to receiving support. Supporting Hospitals and Baby Banks Our volunteers have continued to provide hand-knitted hats, blankets and baby clothing to Special Care Baby Units, maternity wards and baby banks throughout the country. These donations offer warmth and comfort to newborn and premature babies while helping hospitals and charities meet the increasing demand for essential baby items. Knitting groups from across the UK have continued to make and send beautifully crafted items to our baby bank, demonstrating the strength of our nationwide community of volunteers and allowing us to respond to requests from hospitals and baby banks throughout the year. Supporting Our Volunteers Warm Baby Project continues to bring together a wonderful community of knitters of all ages and backgrounds. For many volunteers, knitting provides friendship, purpose and improved wellbeing while contributing to an important cause. We have continued collecting and distributing donated wool so that people who may not otherwise be able to afford materials can still take part, ensuring the project remains accessible and inclusive for everyone who wishes to help. Funding and Development This year we were delighted to receive additional funding through the generosity of local raffles and community fundraising events. These donations have made a significant difference to the charity by helping cover the increasing costs of postage and packaging, enabling us to send parcels of knitted items to hospitals, baby banks and families across the country. We have also secured funding to begin creating a new website, which will provide a stronger online presence, improve communication with supporters and make it easier for organisations and families to access our services. Looking Ahead As we move into the coming year, we are excited about opportunities to expand our local community work. Subject to receiving council funding, we hope to establish a regular mother and baby morning in Bury St Edmunds, where Warm Baby Project CIC is based. This will provide a welcoming space for local parents and carers while giving the charity a greater presence within the community. We hope this new initiative will enable us to reach more local families, offer increased support with warm clothing for babies and young children, and build stronger community connections. Alongside our ongoing nationwide work with hospitals, baby banks and volunteers, we remain committed to ensuring that every child has access to warm, hand-knitted clothing when it is needed most.
