COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

MICRO:MAG CIC

Year Ending: 31 October 2025

Company activities and impact

The company exists to support the global micro:bit community through an online magazine. The micro:bit is a small programmable microcontroller widely used in education and by makers to promote digital making and computer science skills. The magazine provides a space for members of the micro:bit community to share projects, ideas, and resources, with content written, edited, and produced by volunteers from within the community. The publication originally operated as both a printed magazine and downloadable PDF, but transitioned to a fully online format in previous years. While this reduced operating costs, it also resulted in the loss of revenue. During the financial year, there was limited progress in publishing new content. This was primarily due to a shortage of volunteer time and an insufficient number of community article submissions. As a result, the magazine has not yet returned to regular publication. Despite these challenges, the company remains committed to resuming more regular activity as volunteer capacity and community contributions increase.
