Turnover
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes.
Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation and accumulated impairment losses.
Depreciation is provided to write off the cost of tangible fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful economic lives at the following rates:
Fixtures and fittings – 15% reducing balance
Computer equipment – 33% reducing balance
Depreciation is charged from the date the asset is brought into use.
The carrying values of tangible fixed assets are reviewed for impairment where events or changes in circumstances indicate that the carrying value may not be recoverable. Any impairment loss is recognised immediately in the profit and loss account.
Repairs and maintenance costs are charged to the profit and loss account as incurred. Expenditure which enhances the value or extends the useful economic life of an asset is capitalised.

Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents comprise cash in hand and balances held with banks that are repayable on demand.
Cash and cash equivalents are measured at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost where applicable.
Financial Instruments
Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at transaction price, including transaction costs, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction. Financial assets and liabilities are subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.
Basic financial assets comprise trade and other debtors, cash at bank and in hand, and amounts owed by group undertakings. Basic financial liabilities comprise trade and other creditors, bank loans and overdrafts, and amounts owed to group undertakings.
Financial assets are assessed for indicators of impairment at each reporting date. Where there is objective evidence of impairment, an impairment loss is recognised in the profit and loss account.
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
