Luminary Photography CIC is a Sunderland based community organisation, delivering photography workshops and projects. We work with people who have disabilities, support needs and mental health challenges and anyone who enjoys photography. We teach people how to take great photos and use digital tools. We support neurodivergent young people into creative education and employment. Since we started in 2023, we have delivered over 400 workshops and projects for more than 1,100 people and delivered over 700 hours of training. We have seen first-hand how photography has the power to change lives. As part of our strategy to maintain sustainability we also provide photography, video and design services, and training to other community organisations and to businesses, this represents 50% of our turnover.
Our directors all come from creative backgrounds with experience of working in community organisations. We all understand the impact of art on health and wellbeing and how positive an impact engagement with the arts can have. We have two directors that deliver services and one finance director. Our stakeholders are individuals and groups of people from across the North East, predominantly County Durham and Sunderland in this financial year. Everyone that we engage with answers pre and post questionnaires that measure equality and diversity, mood, subject experience and aspirations. We use this information to tailor our training and workshops to beneficiaries. We work closely with our beneficiaries letting them guide our direction to travel, with open discussions about content and how it can be approved. We measure knowledge retention and progression through portfolios that beneficiaries create, allowing us to ensure effectiveness of our teaching. We collaborate with other community organisations and social enterprises. We also work closely with local government departments in County Durham and Tyne and Wear, specifically related to mental health, employability and community arts, allowing us to engage with individuals and groups that we would not otherwise be able to benefit. We meet regularly with managers to identify how we can improve our work and how we can tailor it to their specific audiences. This collaboration has given us access to audiences that we would otherwise be unlikely to engage with, for example young people with mental health and learning barriers and adults with complex disabilities.
Full details of our Directors’ remuneration are set out in our annual accounts. Remuneration was provided specifically for delivery of services and overall project management.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
