Accounting policies

Significant accounting policies
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with FRS 102, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (as applied to small entities by Section 1A of the standard).
Going concern basis
The directors believe that the company is experiencing good levels of sales growth and profitability, and that it is well placed to manage its business risks successfully. Accordingly, they have a reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus they continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.
Turnover
Turnover comprises the invoiced value of goods and services supplied by the company, net of Value Added Tax and trade discounts.
Taxation
Taxation represents the sum of tax currently payable and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the statement of income, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in capital and reserves.

The company's liability for current tax is calculated using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted at the reporting date.

Current and deferred tax assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Deferred taxation
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the reporting date, where transactions or events have occurred at that date that will result in an obligation to pay more, or a right to pay less or to receive more, tax, with certain limited exceptions.

Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted, or substantively enacted, by the reporting date and that are expected to apply when the timing differences reverse.

Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Deferred tax assets and liabilities are not discounted.

No deferred tax has been recognised in respect of the investment property as the carrying amount is equal to its tax base at the reporting date and, accordingly, no timing difference arises requiring recognition under FRS 102.
Investment properties
Investment property comprises property held to earn rental income and/or for capital appreciation, rather than for use in the production or supply of goods or services, for administrative purposes, or for sale in the ordinary course of business.

Investment property is initially recognised at cost, including directly attributable acquisition costs, and is subsequently measured at fair value at each reporting date. No depreciation is charged on investment property. Changes in fair value are recognised in profit or loss in the period in which they arise. Deferred tax is recognised, where applicable, in accordance with Section 29 of FRS 102.

The directors have assessed the fair value of the investment property as at the reporting date. In determining fair value, the directors considered the property's location and condition, comparable market evidence, prevailing market conditions and other relevant information available at the reporting date. The directors did not consider it necessary to obtain an independent professional valuation, having regard to their knowledge of the property and the local property market.

Based on this assessment, the directors concluded that the fair value of the investment property at the reporting date was not materially different from its carrying amount. Accordingly, no fair value adjustment has been recognised in the financial statements.
