Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives:
The company holds unlisted investments measured at fair value through profit or loss. These investments are not quoted in an active market, and accordingly, fair value has been determined by the directors using valuation techniques appropriate to the circumstances. These techniques include consideration of recent transaction prices, the net asset value of investee entities, and other observable inputs where available.
The carrying value of unlisted investments at the balance sheet date was £65,500 (prior year: £15,500).
The directors have reviewed the investments at the reporting date and consider that the carrying value represents a reasonable estimate of fair value.
