BEXHILL JUMP PARK CIC CIC34: Community Interest Company Report Social Impact Report – November 2024 to October 2025 Introduction Bexhill Jump Park CIC operates a community floodlit BMX racetrack and a separate dirt jump area. The facilities are located on Sidley Recreation Ground, in the heart of Sidley ward. According to the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), this area falls within the lowest decile nationally, placing it among the 10% most deprived areas in England. Our facilities are open to the public and free to access throughout the year, providing an important recreational space for local families and young people. The CIC also operates a community BMX club, Jump Club. The club promotes lifelong participation in BMX, both recreationally and competitively, and encourages the many physical, social and wellbeing benefits the sport brings to local residents. Our club activities and open-access facilities provide a fun and welcoming environment while playing an important role in fostering pride in Sidley’s community facilities and bringing local people together. The CIC maintains the track to a high and safe standard, and it is widely recognised as one of the best-maintained BMX racetracks in the country. Jump Club is open to everyone, from local beginners taking their first ride to nationally ranked riders training and competing at a high level. When formal club activities finish, the floodlit facilities remain open for the wider community to enjoy in their own time, ensuring the space continues to benefit local people throughout the year. Our Sidley-based facilities are branded as Jump Park, the home of Jump Club and our local, regional and international team of racers and freestylers. What’s Been Happening? This report focuses on the period November 2024 to October 2025. Track Maintenance and Repairs Our team of volunteers continue to visit the track two to three times per week to keep the facilities well maintained and safe to use. The track surfaces are made of crushed limestone/dolomite with a Type 1 sub-base, which requires significant ongoing maintenance. Track inspections take place before every session. The club liaises closely with the local council regarding more significant maintenance and repair issues. The CIC covers the cost of all tools and equipment, which are stored in two shipping containers on site. The track is extremely popular and used daily by the local community. Weather conditions can create issues such as ruts and flooding, which require regular repairs. Maintenance also includes the start gate system and upkeep of our storage containers. Unfortunately, inappropriate use of the track by motorcycles, powered bikes and remote-control cars also creates additional repair work for our volunteer team. During 2025, additional work was carried out on the dirt jump section, utilising soil from the building works currently taking place for the Sidley Hub development. Weekly Gate Practice (“Gates”) Club volunteers ran two weekly ‘Gates’ sessions, one midweek (6:30–8:00pm) and one on Saturdays (10:30am–12:00pm). These sessions are semi-structured and designed to be welcoming and accessible, making them ideal for beginners who want to try BMX. New local residents often drop in, have a cup of tea and ask questions about the track and the club. The sessions are also suitable for more experienced riders to train, which adds excitement and helps motivate younger riders. The club provides marshals, first aiders and a DBS-checked lead worker to ensure sessions are safe and well supervised. A British Cycling qualified BMX coach is usually present to offer guidance and skill development support. The atmosphere is family-friendly, combining a relaxed community environment with opportunities for more advanced training. Sessions typically engage 20 - 30 riders. To help remove barriers to participation, the club loans bikes and safety equipment - including full-face helmets, gloves and pads - to anyone wishing to have a go. Weekly Coaching We provide weekly coaching sessions for riders of all ages and abilities. Our outreach and promotion aim to engage new local young people and families, particularly those living in Sidley. Last year the club supported three new helpers to become qualified coaches (the cost of the British Cycling training course is covered by the club). This year they joined the club’s established head coach, who is a Level 2 British Cycling coach (currently working towards Level 3), with a BSc in Sport Science and experience as a former national junior BMX squad coach. Coaching continues to take place on Mondays from 5:30 - 9:00pm, with a typical attendance of 40-45 riders. Two of the new coaches introduced a new beginners session, which takes place on an ad-hoc basis on Saturday mornings and regularly coach at our Monday sessions. We aim to provide more opportunities in the coming year. This will allow us to offer additional sessions and more structured training opportunities for riders at different stages of development. We continue to be committed to supporting progression and volunteering within the club, we have supporting one additional junior member who has completed his coaching qualification, and he is now supporting sessions also, on an ad hoc basis. We have also supported a rider to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award by providing a volunteering role within the club, assisting at sessions and helping younger riders. South Region BMX Event In June we hosted our second South Region BMX race event, which was a great success and widely described by riders and visitors as one of the most enjoyable regional events in the South Region calendar. The event attracted approximately 350 riders from across the region, bringing together competitors, families and spectators for a full day of racing. The event also supported local organisations, with local catering providers attending to serve riders, families and spectators throughout the day, helping to create a welcoming community atmosphere. Local dignitaries also attended to show their support for the track and the positive role it plays within the Sidley community. The event showcased the quality of our facilities and the dedication of our volunteers, while providing an exciting opportunity for local riders to compete at a regional level within their own community. Race Team As well as supporting rider development, the race team encourages young people and their families to travel to events, meet new people and experience different parts of the country. Broadening horizons and raising awareness of different communities and opportunities is an important part of the club’s impact. Regional Racing During the 2025 South Region BMX series, 33 riders represented Jump Club across nine rounds, held at Bournemouth, Andover, Cyclopark, Gosport, Runnymede, Peckham, Bexhill, Hayes and Knightwood. Jump Club finished 9th out of 31 clubs, with at least four riders achieving podium positions by the end of the series. We are grateful to the families who transport and set up the club gazebos at race events across the region. It is fantastic to see local young riders travelling, competing and building friendships with others from clubs throughout the region. To support this, we manage a dedicated Facebook group that helps coordinate communication between riders and families attending events. The group provides updates, shares information and offers practical support to those taking part in regional races. Our Team Manager continues to coordinate race days, ensuring the club gazebo is present and helping riders and families with team administration before and during events. National Racing At national level, 10 riders represented Jump Club as part of our National Race Team at events held across the UK, including Manchester, Cumbernauld, Birmingham and Gosport. A total of 23 riders represented the club at the 2025 British BMX Championships held at Cyclopark in Gravesend. Our National Race Team finished 15th in the National Race Team category, while Jump Club placed 35th overall out of 57 clubs competing. These results reflect the dedication of our riders, families and volunteers, and demonstrate how a small community club can support young people to compete and succeed at regional and national level. Freestyle We also encourage riders to explore the freestyle side of BMX. Our dirt jump area allows riders to practice freestyle skills and develop confidence. As mentioned above, we have spent significant time refurbishing our jump area and we aim to make the area more popular, encouraging more participants during 2026. We have close links with Source Park, a local indoor skatepark, which helps create additional opportunities for riders. Jump Club riders took part in several freestyle events during the year, including: - Battle of Hastings Qualifiers - Boyley Jam - Folkestone Jam 13th Annual Rookie Awards - Source Park This free event took place at Source Park in December 2025. We would like to thank Source Park for hosting the event free of charge for our riders - an example of fantastic support for the BMX community. Thanks also go to Lee Smith, one of our original 1980s BMX racers, whose company PoppySeed Bakery generously sponsors the trophies. The Crew None of this would be possible without our incredible team of local volunteers. Many volunteers help informally whenever they can, while others take on more structured roles including: - Safeguarding Lead - Track Maintenance Team - Session Leads - Coaches - Team Managers - Club Secretary Their time, skills and dedication are essential to the continued success of the club and the safe running of the facilities. Social Media and Community Engagement We manage daily updates and promotion through our Facebook, Instagram and Spond App channels. These platforms help us communicate with riders and families, promote upcoming events and coaching sessions, celebrate rider achievements and encourage new people from the local community to get involved.

We speak regularly with Rother District Council regarding co-ordinating maintenance and events. We encourage new ideas and feedback from our participants via Facebook groups and face to face discussions. We also liaise regularly with Heart of Sidley (Big Local) and the police regarding engaging local families. We often contact British Cycling officers for guidance and advice.
