During the financial year, the CIC delivered a range of community-focused activities designed to bring local people together, reduce social isolation and provide accessible opportunities for residents of all ages. Our main activities included organising Unity Day, which brought together local organisations, stallholders, food vendors, volunteers and residents for a free community event. We also delivered Unity4Youth activities to engage young people in positive community initiatives and organised a community pantomime, providing affordable seasonal entertainment for local families. Funding received through grants, fundraising, sponsorship and event income was used to deliver these activities, including venue and event infrastructure, volunteer support, children's activities, equipment, safety measures and community resources. The company worked with volunteers, local businesses and partner organisations to maximise the benefit of available funding. These activities promoted community cohesion, encouraged volunteering, supported local organisations and businesses, and created opportunities for residents to participate in inclusive, family-friendly events. Any surplus generated by the company has been retained to support the company's community objectives and future activities in accordance with its Community Interest Company purpose.
Yes. The company consulted with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the year, including local residents, volunteers, community groups, event attendees, local businesses, stallholders, sponsors, funders and partner organisations. Consultation took place through a variety of methods, including a public community meeting, a week-long community engagement programme called Bridge the Gap, Walk and Talk activities, volunteer meetings, discussions with partner organisations, social media engagement and conversations during community events. These activities enabled local people to share their views, identify community priorities and suggest improvements. Feedback from stakeholders influenced the planning and delivery of Unity Day, youth activities, children's provision, volunteer support, accessibility, event safety and future community initiatives.
