Notes to the Financial Statements
1. General Information
The Mersey Property Group Limited is a private company, limited by shares, incorporated in England & Wales, registered number 11851542 . The registered office is 6-8 Tawd Street, Liverpool, L4 4PD.
2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 section 1A Small Entities "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Companies Act 2006.
2.2. Turnover
Turnover represents rental income receivable from investment properties during the year, excluding value added tax. Rental income is recognised on a straight-line basis over the term of the tenancy.
2.3. Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases:
Freehold None
Plant & Machinery 15% reducing balance
Computer Equipment 25% reducing balance
Freehold property is not depreciated due to the property being included at fair value.
2.4. Investment Properties
Investment properties are measured at fair value, determined annually, based on market rents and investment property yields for comparable real estate, adjusted where necessary for differences in the nature, location or condition of the specific asset.
The valuations are performed by the directors.
No depreciation is provided in respect of investment properties. Any changes in fair value are recognised in the profit and loss account.
2.5. Taxation
The taxation expense represents the aggregate amount of current and deferred tax recognised in the reporting period. Tax is recognised in profit or loss, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. In this case, tax is recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity, respectively.
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences at the reporting date. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. Deferred tax is measured using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting date that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
