The principal activity of the company during the period was providing packed lunches and / or food hampers to children of families in receipt of benefits, those accessing free school meals and those enduring hardship during the Covid 19 Pandemic across the Wirral Peninsula. The lunches were delivered to family homes throughout the school holidays 5 days per week. Secondary to this families were supported financially for food shopping and uniform and paying bills. Gifts were delivered for Christmas and New Year, Pancake Day and Chinese New Year, Mother’s Day and Easter. The gifts were for children and for children to give to their main carer. All gifts were delivered to family homes the average number of lunches per day ranged from 250 per day to 400 per day, five days per week. The community has benefitted greatly as over 250 children a day received freshly prepared, filling and nutritious lunches which ensured they were fed daily and also allowed parents to have more money available for outings, clothing and bills. The families receiving a daily visit also made sure that their emotional wellbeing was addressed and if any safeguarding issues or illness etc arose it could be noted and addressed quickly. Parents looked forward to seeing a familiar face daily and having a quick chat on the doorstep. The gift packs had a huge impact as many of the families were lone parent families and so they did not have anyone to buy gift for them as parents (from their children) so when they received a Mother’s Day gift from their child donated by Looby Lou’s they were emotionally overwhelmed. The children also were given gifts to give to their parents for Christmas. Special occasion packs over lockdown were very much appreciated as the children were able to make their own pancakes for pancake day and celebrate Chinese New Year with fortune cookies, chopsticks, sweets and chocolates and also had a special valentine’s day pack delivered for a valentine’s picnic and Easter eggs for each child for Easter. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve bags were a favourite as they contained reindeer dust, snowman soup, candy canes, Christmas selection boxes, Santa’s bells, fruit, sweets drinks and a small gift. It was delightful to see the reindeer dust sprinkled on all the pathways when delivering lunches a few days later. All the recipients of the lunches and packs have stated how much they have helped financially and emotionally and the fact that they are delivered to homes has helped financially too.
