Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have remained unchanged from the previous year, and also have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
The principal activity of the company during the period was the sale and distribution of clothing and related apparel products. There has been no material change in this activity during the period.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
At the balance sheet date the company had net liabilities of £267,993. The directors have received confirmation from the shareholders that they will continue to provide financial support for a period of at least twelve months from the date of approval of these financial statements. On this basis, the directors consider it appropriate to prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis.
Accordingly, the financial statements do not include any adjustments that would result if the company were unable to continue as a going concern.
The financial statements are presented in pounds sterling (£), which is the company’s functional currency. All amounts are rounded to the nearest £1, unless otherwise stated.
Turnover represents the amounts (excluding value added tax) derived from the provision of goods and services to third party customers during the year. The goods and services are derived from the principal activities of the company.
Transactions in foreign currencies are translated at the exchange rate ruling at the date of the transaction. Monetary assets and liabilities are translated at year-end rates. Exchange differences are recognised in profit or loss.
Interest income is recognised in profit or loss using the effective interest method.
Short-term employee benefits, including holiday pay, are recognised as expenses as services are rendered. Contributions to defined contribution pension schemes are charged to profit or loss when due.

Defined contribution pension plan
The company operates a defined contribution plan for its employees. A defined contribution plan is a plan under which the company pays fixed contributions into a separate entity. Once the contributions have been paid the company has no further payment obligations.
The contributions are recognised as an expense in profit or loss when they fall due. Amounts not paid are shown in accruals as a liability in the statement of financial position. The assets of the plan are held separately from the company in independently administered funds.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives:
Land & buildings
10 years useful life
Plant & machinery
25% straight line
Computer equipment
25% straight line
Inventories are valued at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell. Cost is determined on a FIFO basis.
The company has elected to apply the provisions of Section 1 'Basic Financial Instruments; and Section 12 'Other Financial Instruments Issues' of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments.
Financial instruments are recognised in the company's balance sheet when the company becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instrument.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial statements, when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.
Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances, are initially measured at transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective interest method unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the transaction is measured at the present value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial assets classified as receivable within one year are not amortised.
Basic financial liabilities
Basic financial liabilities, including creditors, bank loans and loans from fellow group companies are initially recognised at transaction price unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument is measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest.
Financial liabilities classified as payable within one year are not amortised.
Debt instruments are subsequently carried at amortised cost, using the effective interest rate method.
Trade creditors are obligations to pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary course of business from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities if payment is due within one year or less. If not, they are presented as non-current liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.
