COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

FIRST TRY SPORTS CIC

Company Number: 16510597 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2026

Company activities and impact

During the financial year ended 30 June 2026, First Try Sports CIC focused on establishing itself as a community organisation dedicated to increasing participation in sport and physical activity for children and young people across Essex. The CIC secured grant funding from charitable and local authority sources, enabling it to begin delivering projects that removed financial barriers to participation in sport. Funding received during the year was invested in community sports equipment and resources to support the delivery of inclusive sporting opportunities within schools and local communities. Working alongside schools and community partners, the CIC helped expand access to structured physical activity, with a particular emphasis on introducing children to sport in a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment. Projects supported children of all abilities and sought to improve physical health, confidence, teamwork and social development. Although the organisation was in its first year of operation, it successfully established governance procedures, financial controls and partnerships that provide a strong foundation for future growth. At the end of the financial year, the remaining grant funding was retained in full to finance planned community projects during the following financial period, ensuring that all funds continue to be used exclusively for community benefit. The directors believe the activities undertaken during the year have delivered a positive social impact by increasing opportunities for children to participate in organised sport, supporting schools with additional sporting resources, and laying the foundations for sustainable community sport programmes that will continue to benefit local families in future years.
