| 1. General Information
Dave Criddle Travel Limited is a Private Company, limited by shares, domiciled in England and Wales, registration number 04585285.
The company's registered office is 12 The Bridge, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 1UG.
| 2. Accounting policies
Basis of accounting
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention in accordance with the accounting policies set out below. These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with FRS102, section 1A - The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland and the Companies Act 2006.
The company is a travel agent and not a principal, and therefore recognises the commission earned on gross retail turnover as income. Commission income is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable and represents commission received, stated net of Value Added Tax, returns, rebates and discounts. Gross retail turnover is included for disclosure purposes only. Revenue is recognised when the income can be reliably measured, specific criteria have been met for each of the company's activities, and it is likely that future economic benefits will flow to the entity.
Intangible fixed assets (including purchased goodwill and patents) are amortised at rates calculated to write off the assets on a straight line basis over their estimated useful economic lives. Impairment of intangible assets is reviewed where circumstances indicate that the carrying value of an asset may not be fully recoverable.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Depreciation is provided, after taking account of any grants receivable, at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life:
Office equipment - 20% straight line
Fixtures and fittings - 15% reducing balance
Office and computer equipment - 20% reducing balance
Contributions in respect of the company's defined contribution pension scheme are charged to the profit and loss account for the year in which they are payable to the scheme. Differences between contributions payable and contributions actually paid in the year are shown as either accruals or prepayments at the year end.
Going concern basis of accounting
The accounts have been prepared on the assumption that the company is able to carry on the business as a going concern, which the directors consider appropriate having regard to the circumstances. While there is considerable uncertainty in the travel industry, the directors consider that the company is a going concern, given the level of cash and reserves that the company holds.
