The Company runs a series of National Engineering skills competition for Trainee/Apprentice Metal Fabricators and Welders. Aim Is to raise the standard of training to provide multi skilled work force, with increase employability, and productivity The objective of the 2 skills competitions is to: Challenge Trainee Welders, Metal Fabricators and Sheet Metal Technicians to develop their skills in a competitive environment To inspire Trainee Welders, Metal Fabricators and Sheet Metal Technicians to be ambitious to develop their careers To assess an individual’s knowledge, practical skills against a set of strict criteria. To assist employers and training providers to benchmark their own apprenticeship and training programmes In the 2024/5 competition cycle we had c256 competitors enter the 2 skills competitions, each competition is divided into 2 progressive stages Passive, National Qualifiers and National Finals each stage builds on the other thus challenging the competitors to continually develop their skills and improve their employability Competitors enter from a variety of different Engineering sectors including Aerospace, Defence, General Fabrication Food and Dairy Equipment Manufactures and includes a number of full time college students who can show case their skills to potential employers Competitors who meet the required skill level and age profile have the opportunity to represent the UK and International Level this would involve a enhance level of additional training

The Company Stake Holder are Further Education Colleges across the UK including the devolved nations, Training Providers who employ Apprentice engineers, Members of the Armed Forces As a company we hold regular consultations with relevant standards organisation i.e The Welding Institute, Engineering Construction Training Board, and Awarding Bodies i.e City and Guilds, EAL Skills and Education Group. We also have input from the Apprentices Employers and Training Providers to ensure the competitions are relevant to Industry. As a Company we use this input to design the competition test pieces and make changes as required We provide the competition and part of a series of competition run and by World Skills UK and we liaise with WSUK to maintain the competition standards As part of the competition cycle we seek feedback for the competitors and their input is used to make changes as required
