The Green Runners CIC Company Activity and Community Impact Report Reporting Period: 1 November 2024 – 31 October 2025 Principal Activities The Green Runners CIC exists to help reduce the environmental impact of running by supporting individuals, clubs, race organisers and the wider running industry to make more sustainable choices. As a volunteer-led Community Interest Company, we encourage practical climate action through our four pillars: * How We Move * How We Kit Up * How We Eat * How We Speak Out Our purpose is to empower runners to make meaningful environmental changes through positive action rather than perfection, building a supportive community that demonstrates how sport can contribute to climate solutions. Activities During the Year During the reporting period The Green Runners continued to grow as a recognised voice for sustainability within the running community. Key activities included: * Expanding our membership community and supporting members to make personal sustainability pledges across our four pillars. * Publishing educational articles, podcasts and practical guidance to help runners reduce the environmental impact of travel, equipment, nutrition and advocacy. * Supporting the growth of local Green Runner groups, encouraging members to meet, organise low-carbon runs and share best practice. * Continuing to campaign on issues affecting environmental sustainability within the running industry, including encouraging greater transparency and challenging greenwashing. * Working with race organisers, clubs and partners to encourage more sustainable event practices and develop initiatives aimed at improving environmental performance across the sector. * Delivering community engagement through social media, newsletters and online events, helping to reach new audiences and increase awareness of sustainable running. Community Benefit The Company’s activities continue to benefit the community by: * Increasing public awareness of the environmental impacts associated with recreational running. * Providing free educational resources that enable runners to make informed and practical changes. * Creating an inclusive community where members support one another in reducing their environmental footprint. * Encouraging behavioural change that reduces carbon emissions associated with travel, equipment consumption and nutrition. * Supporting volunteers to develop skills in community organising, campaigning and sustainability leadership. * Influencing the wider running sector by promoting practical environmental improvements for clubs, events and governing bodies. Impact During 2025 Throughout 2025 The Green Runners strengthened its position as one of the UK’s leading grassroots sustainability organisations within recreational sport. Highlights included: * Continued growth of the membership community and the number of sustainability pledges made by runners. * Increased engagement through local meet-ups and volunteer-led activities. * Expansion of educational content focused on sustainable running practices. * Ongoing work with clubs, race organisers and industry stakeholders to promote lower-carbon participation in running. * Development of initiatives such as Greener Clubs and Greener Races to help embed sustainability into organised running. * Continued advocacy encouraging individuals and organisations to consider environmental impacts in decision-making. The Green Runners’ website reports that members have now made more than 9,000 sustainability pledges, demonstrating continued engagement with practical climate action across the running community.

Stakeholder Engagement The Green Runners remains a community-led organisation, with volunteers playing a central role in planning, governance, communications and campaign delivery. During the year the organisation sought feedback from members through its Annual General Meeting and community survey, using this information to shape priorities for future work, including the expansion of local groups and sustainability initiatives for clubs and races.
