Company activities and impact

PART 1 - GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPANY’S ACTIVITIES AND IMPACT During the financial year, More Than Flags and Rainbows CIC significantly expanded its work to improve inclusion, belonging and wellbeing for LGBTQ+ children, young people and families across Wales and England. We worked with 66 schools and education settings across 12 local authority areas, delivering staff training, consultancy, curriculum reviews, inclusion health checks and pupil workshops. Our work reached 2,489 staff and adults, 667 pupils and young people, and 3,156 people overall, helping schools build safer, more inclusive environments where every child feels they belong. During the year we developed and published several new educational resources, including When You're Asked, Currents of Belonging and Proud To Be Me Day, providing practical guidance for schools embedding inclusion across the curriculum. We also launched MTFAR Families, a Wales-wide programme supporting LGBTQ+ parents, carers and their children through social activities, peer support and community connections. The programme has already established a growing network of families, helping to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing. A major milestone was the establishment of the Welsh-language LGBTQ+ Youth Forum (Fforwm Cymraeg), ensuring Welsh-speaking young people have opportunities to shape future resources and influence inclusive practice within Welsh-medium education. During the year we secured over £52,000 in grant funding, expanded our bilingual provision, developed new partnerships with schools, local authorities and community organisations, and strengthened our national reputation through recognition including finalist status in the UK StartUp Awards. Our activities have directly benefited LGBTQ+ children, young people, educators and families by improving representation, reducing discrimination, increasing confidence and creating more inclusive schools and communities.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders include pupils and young people, schools, teachers, parents and carers, LGBTQ+ families, local authorities, community organisations, funders and partner organisations. Throughout the year we actively sought feedback through post-training evaluations, school consultations, grant-funded evaluations, surveys, focus groups, family events, youth voice activities and ongoing discussions with partner organisations. We also undertook significant consultation with LGBTQ+ families, including a national parental survey and commissioned consultation work exploring the experiences of LGBTQ+ families accessing family services. This consultation informed the development of MTFAR Families and future support programmes. Young people's views have continued to shape our work through the establishment of the Welsh-language LGBTQ+ Youth Forum, ensuring resources and services are informed by lived experience. Feedback received during the year directly influenced: - the launch of MTFAR Families - development of new educational resources for schools - expansion of Welsh-language provision - creation of additional support for parents and carers - improvements to training programmes and consultancy services - future priorities for resource development and organisational growth. Directors review stakeholder feedback regularly to ensure the organisation continues to respond to the needs of the communities it exists to serve.
