The Trustees and operational team continued to strengthen the organisation’s digital presence through improved social media activity and more consistent marketing. This has resulted in increased engagement, improved visibility of the building and its activities, and greater awareness of the facilities available at Great Bow Wharf and the Warehouse building.
A wider range of events and activities were trialled throughout the year in an effort to increase footfall, encourage community participation, and maximise use of the building. Some events were successful and well attended, whilst others demonstrated the continuing challenge of rebuilding regular participation and consistent engagement patterns following the long-term impacts of the Covid period and wider economic pressures.
The cost of utilities and general building operations continued to be monitored carefully throughout the year. Significant increases in maintenance and repair costs were experienced, reflecting the age and condition of the historic listed building. Trustees recognise that substantial refurbishment and investment works will be required in the coming years to preserve the building and ensure its long-term sustainability.
The day-to-day operation of the building continues to be managed by SBA Worldwide CIC on behalf of the Trustees. The partnership arrangement remains positive and productive, with the SBA team continuing to support operational delivery, tenant liaison, building management, marketing activity, and wider community engagement.
During the year, the Trustees worked closely with Langport Community Church Trust and SBA Communities CIC on the development and progression of the Accelerating Reform Fund initiative. This partnership model positions the Warehouse Trust as the governance and accountable body, The Angel as the visible and accessible community delivery space, and SBA CIC as the operational delivery lead. The initiative focuses on strengthening preventative community support, reducing social isolation, improving access to local services, and supporting more joined-up community-based approaches to wellbeing and adult social care reform.
The Trustees believe this collaborative approach represents an important opportunity to strengthen community resilience, develop more sustainable local support systems, and maximise the use of key community assets within Langport and the surrounding area.
The Trustees were also pleased to welcome Eve Turner as a new Trustee in July 2025. Eve brings creativity, community insight, and a strong commitment to inclusive community activity and engagement, further strengthening the breadth of experience and perspectives within the Trustee group.
The Trustees remain grateful to all tenants, volunteers, partners, customers, and supporters who continue to contribute to the ongoing success and sustainability of the Warehouse building and the wider activities connected to Great Bow Wharf. The Trustee group remains relatively small and would welcome additional trustees who can provide strategic support, professional expertise, and creative input to help shape the future development of the Trust and the building.
