The company runs a printmaking studio at Intra Arts (a gallery and maker space in Rochester High Street), providing access to printmaking facilities and related arts equipment for use by the public, promoting and encouraging public engagement with and appreciation of visual arts and printmaking in particular. The company has continued to run a programme of training, cultural events, exhibitions, wellbeing and creative activities. The studio’s activities benefited the community in the following ways: - Local creatives were regularly able to use specialised printmaking presses and equipment otherwise inaccessible to them, and supported to push their skills further. - Adult courses in screen printing, Risograph, drypoint, textile repeat patterns, and monoprinting were delivered at the studio, providing new skills and paid work. - The Wayzgoose print fair was held in November 2023, bringing the studio members and public together to view and talk about their work. It was well attended and successful in terms of social and sales activity. - The studio participated in the final Medway Print Festival in June 2024, with a print exhibition by Paul Jerome in the Intra Arts windows gallery. - For Medway Open Studios in July 2024, we welcomed over 450 visitors and gave tours of the print studio, and demonstrations of printmaking equipment. An exhibition in the windows gallery during the festival featured work by Wolf Howard, Sarah Crouch and Mick Hampshire, and Shona van Aswegen, Philippa Hornsby, Paul Jerome and Xtina Lamb showed printmaking work in the studio workspace. - A screen printing party, ‘Shiny Printy Pride Drinkies’, was delivered for Medway Pride Fringe in August 2024, attended by 36 participants. - 10 artists participated in the 20:20 Print Exchange organised by Hot Bed Press. Due to a family bereavement, the creative director worked at reduced capacity through this year, and some elements of our delivery (such as monthly printmaking classes for Home Educators) were suspended, and the number of classes running was lower.
The company’s stakeholders are people living or working in Medway, Kent and the South East. The directors of the company have both worked within socially engaged practice for over a decade and spoke to local people about the lack of alternative facilities in the area. Events are co-created with members, and enquiries from the public about the provision of specific classes are responded to by sourcing tutors and scheduling classes. The Facebook group for members is a forum for discussion, we gathered written feedback at the festivals we delivered activities for, and used social media channels to monitor online engagement.
The aggregate amount of emoluments paid to or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £425 There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
