The company run Abertillery Youth Drama and Music Society, a volunteer run youth company that is committed to delivering weekly drama, music and dance sessions for children/adults in the local community. The company's activities have benefited the community in the following ways: The performers participated in the Cenotaph, Remembrance Service paying respects to the fallen in the form of choral musical numbers whilst dignitaries/community members lay wreaths. A 2-night Christmas Concert was put on for the public in the local theatre providing a positive community event during a time of uncertainty and developing the confidence, team work and performance skills of performers. Performers participated in the local Annual Community Carol Concert organised by the community council which raised funds for the Councillor's charity of choice. The primary performers put on a 'Rock n Roll Babies' show in the local theatre developing independence and confidence amongst children.
The company's stakeholders are the performers and parents at Abertillery Youth Drama and Music Society. We consult all performers on the musical selections picked for all community events. This has helped us to ensure that all performers are confident, happy and enjoying the programme selection for performance. Our research has enabled us to recognise niche areas of enjoyment such as 50's Rock and Roll and the company has taken the opportunity to engage with members to educate and excite them in new musical genres. We encourage performers and parents to offer suggestions for musical numbers, whole shows and community events.
