In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. Blue Flamingo Community Hub aims to combat isolation and loneliness by providing a safe, inclusive space for people in our community to socialise. Our sessions are open to anyone in the community, and we offer specialist support to people living with dementia and those who care for them. We provide opportunities for people to interact and engage with each other through music, food and a variety of activities. Since our incorporation as a CIC, we've expanded our reach by hosting weekly sessions in our main venue, where we used to run sessions twice a month. We've also started running weekly sessions out of a second venue and where we've held monthly sessions on an ad hoc basis from a third venue, we've changed to a new venue which offers us stability so we can confidently hold our sessions on a regular basis. This has enabled us to: deliver 117 sessions over the course of the year reach 130 individuals conduct 3 home visits provide transportation for 9 individuals to access our sessions connect 57 individuals, professionals and volunteers together through our WhatsApp Carer's Advice Group. We've introduced a new movement based programme at one of our sessions which meets twice per month and made connections with 20 external groups and organisations across Lancashire, extending our members with a vital lifeline of extended support. We placed focus on our team of volunteers by introducing a formalised induction training course which is compulsory for all volunteers and staff members. We have also dedicated time to their mental health by hosting workshops dedicated to supporting their wellbeing and creativity and have also provided them with training opportunities in dementia awareness, food hygiene and first aid. We've been a place for respite and refuge for our carers, people living with dementia, volunteers and other members of our community. The overwhelming feedback has been that Blue Flamingo gives people a 'place to go', an opportunity for people to 'get out of the house', 'meet new people' and 'chat with others going through the same thing' as them. We had one individual shed tears of appreciation when we asked him how he was coping on his second or third visit. He was so touched that we took the time to notice him and that his role of being an informal caregiver to his wife is an incredibly difficult full-time job. Blue Flamingo has provided employment opportunities to three individuals through one full-time and two part-time positions and financially supported several local groups through hire or use of their facilities including Preston Community Transport, St Michael's Church, St Teresa's Social Centre, Preston Music Workshops, Let's Grow Preston and Dig In.
Our organisation's stakeholders are defined as: individuals and groups who access our sessions (whom we refer to as 'members'), Blue Flamingo volunteers, Blue Flamingo Directors, external groups/organisations who provide us with services or with whom we've collaborated, self-employed practitioners We have consulted our stakeholders through individual face-to-face consultations, feedback forms and focus groups. We ask each of the external groups/organisations who work with us to provide us with indication of how useful they thought the experience was for them; we've received 100% positive feedback from them that the groups were useful to them and helped them to achieve their objectives. Feedback collected in 2025 revealed that 70% members who completed our survey stated they were less isolated and better informed from attending our sessions and 85% reported having forged new friendships.
