Aberdeen Birth Collective CIC ('ABC') has continued to provide independently funded in person antenatal classes which have benefited the community by being free at the point of access. With the remainder of the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund grant from Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action to pay for group antenatal classes, two blocks of classes were run in Stonehaven and four people attended. In its third year ABC found that demand for in person birth support services exceeded the availability of its doulas, and so a new project was started, training and supporting volunteer birth partners. This was paid for in part using the remainder of the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund grant administered by Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action, to provide birth and postnatal support to clients in Aberdeenshire, The cost of training was split between ABC and a new organisation, Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners. A total of eight volunteers completed the first training week.
Our stakeholders continue to be the women, birthing people and families we support, health professionals and members of the third sector such as midwives and peer supporters, and the birth workers who provide our services, including our newly trained volunteers. Consultation with our volunteers and the people we support is ongoing via intake and feedback forms which we use to identify how our support has impacted our client group and areas which need to be improved upon.
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £2265. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
