Notes to the Financial Statements
1. General Information
Stairway Distribution Limited is a private company, limited by shares, incorporated in England & Wales, registered number 02706095 . The registered office is 115 Inmans Road, Hedon, East Yorkshire, HU12 8HU.
2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 section 1A Small Entities "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Companies Act 2006.
2.2. Significant judgements and estimations
Estimates and judgements are continually evaluated and are based on historical experience and other factors, including expectations of future events that are believed to be reasonable under the circumstances. Although these estimates are based on the Directors’ best knowledge of the amount, events or actions, actual results ultimately differ from these estimates. The Directors do not consider there to be any material estimates and judgements.
2.3. Turnover
Revenue is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable and represents the amount receivable for goods supplied or services rendered, net of returns, discounts and rebates allowed by the group and value added taxes.
The company recognises revenue when the significant risks and rewards of ownership have been transferred to the buyer; the company retains no continuing involvement or control over the goods; the amount of revenue can be measured reliably; it is probable that future economic benefits will flow to the entity and when the specific criteria relating to each of the company's sales channels have been met, as described below.
The company offers T'ai Chi retreats, along with the sale of instruction books and DVDs, and streaming income for T'ai Chi instruction. Sales of goods are recognised on sale to the customer, which is considered the point of delivery. The income from retreats and streaming services are recognised on delivery of the service.
2.4. Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases:
Fixtures & Fittings 20% on cost
Computer Equipment 20% on cost
2.5. Stocks and Work in Progress
Stocks and work in progress are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value after making due allowance for obsolete and slow-moving stocks. Cost includes all direct costs and an appropriate proportion of fixed and variable overheads. Work-in-progress is reflected in the accounts on a contract by contract basis by recording turnover and related costs as contract activity progresses.
2.6. Financial Instruments
The company only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualify as basic financial instruments. Basic financial instruments, including trade and other debtors and creditors are initially recognised at transaction value and subsequently measure at their settlement value.
3. Average Number of Employees
Average number of employees, including directors, during the year was: 2 (2024: 2)
