COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

EASTBOURNE U10 FISHERMANS CIC

Company Number: 08257333 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 October 2025

Company activities and impact

The CICs activities mainly involved the fishing quarter in the Sovereign Harbour area of Eastbourne. There are approximately 30 to 40 family owned fishing boats operating out of Eastbourne's Sovereign Harbour. Most of the boats are classed as 'small' fishing boats, being under 10m in length. Nearly all the boats are running and operating completely static fishing gear (static nets and pots etc and not beam or net trawling). This method of fishing is classified as 'low impact' fishing with low environmental damage and has created an extremely successful and stable local industry which can be built-on in the future. The Quay serves local fishermen and residents and contains a number of storage units and a fishmongers. Throughout the financial year money has been donated to help continue the operation of the quay. It is an important community asset for use by the local members of the fishing community.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's stakeholders are local fishermen and residents and visitors to the area surrounding the Fishing Quarter development. The directors of the company have worked in the local fishing industry in for a number of years and developed the business model for the Fishing Quarter based on their experience of talking to other fishermen and residents.
