COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

COUNTERMINERS CIC

Company Number: 15397148 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

This year, the company has completed five projects at different scales in the theatre industry. Our largest initiative, As Yet UnScene, has seen the engagement of over 100 artists from the community in the build up to the first public showcase. Funding was applied for from the Arts Council for this scheme. The other four projects were small scale productions that received full runs, some in London and one in Edinburgh. They all continued the company’s main goals of engaging emerging artists as they develop their craft.

Consultation with stakeholders

The stakeholders that have been consulted are those who have participated in our community workshops. A sample of feedback is below: "provided a really safe space to play and meet/collaborate with new people. I would definitely recommend to others!" "efficient, collaborative, and creatively productive." "It was a valuable opportunity to develop new work and build meaningful professional connections." "well-structured and energising" "The whole process was incredibly rewarding and supportive from the beginning, I really felt as though my writing was valued and it was uplifting to receive feedback and thoughts. It was all so constructive and positive, and it has given me fuel to keep going and put my play on.

Directors' remuneration

The sole director (me, Lew Forman) received renumeration with regards to the hours put in to specific projects that might otherwise have been outsourced for a significantly higher rate. The director was not renumerated for the actual running of the company. The total renumeration the director received was £4326, far below the industry standard for the number of hours of work completed.
