During the financial year, Cornerstone Learning provided specialist support to children who were unable to access full-time school or nursery replacements due to additional needs or other barriers to learning. As a communication and development centre and alternative provision placement, we delivered personalised therapeutic and skill focused learning opportunities designed to help children build confidence, develop key social and emotional skills, and engage positively with learning. Our provision included small group and individual teaching, communication focused interventions, creative and sensory learning experiences, outdoor activities, and programs aimed at developing social and emotional well-being. We worked in partnership with families local authorities and educational settings to create tailored programs that reflected each child’s unique strengths, needs and aspirations. Through our work within the local community, we have supported children to make meaningful progress in their communication, confidence and readiness for learning, while helping to reduce barriers that may otherwise have limited their access to education. We have also provided guidance and support to families experiencing difficulties in securing suitable education, educational provision for their children. In addition, we have provided outreach support to children in local schools and nurseries helping educational settings to better meet the needs of children with additional needs. We have also delivered monthly stay in play sessions for families providing a welcoming environment where children can play, develop social skills and build confidence whilst parents and carers have the opportunity to connect with others and access peer support. During school holidays we have run Easter and summer holiday camps offering inclusive activities and opportunities for children to engage, learn and have fun in a supportive setting. Overall, Cornerstone Learning has made a positive difference by providing a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive and move towards a brighter future.

Cornerstone Learning’s key stakeholders include the children and young people who attend our provision, their families and carers, referring schools, our dedicated staff team, and partner professionals such as therapists, social workers, and educational psychologists. As a newly established provision (operating since 2024), we have placed strong emphasis on building positive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders from the outset. Families are consulted regularly through daily communication, termly reviews, and feedback questionnaires. Referring schools are engaged through review meetings, progress reports, and regular dialogue to ensure our provision continues to meet each pupil’s agreed outcomes. Staff feedback is also gathered through team meetings and supervision, supporting our commitment to reflective practice and continuous improvement. Feedback received during this year of operation has led to several meaningful developments and improvements across the organisation. We actively seek feedback from children families and staff to help us evaluate our provision and identify opportunities for growth. Parent feedback highlighted a need for longer sessions to better meet the needs of children and families. In response we expanded our provision from half day sessions to full day placements enabling children to access a greater range of learning, therapeutic and social opportunities throughout the day while providing increased support and flexibility for families. Staff feedback has played an important role in shaping our development plans. For example following requests for increased professional development opportunities we introduced a structured training and career development program for staff. We also expanded the practical handing training available to both team members and families helping to ensure consistency of approach and build confidence in supporting children with additional needs. Cornerstone Learning remains committed to active consultation and co-production with all stakeholders. This ongoing dialogue ensures that our provision continues to evolve in response to feedback, enabling us to deliver a nurturing, responsive, and effective alternative education experience for every learner and their family.
