The company initiated a project to create a community garden in Peaslake. A licence to Occupy agreement was signed between Peaslake Community Garden C.I.C. (the licensee) Coverwood Farm LLP (the licensor) and Shere Parish Council (The owner) that allows the company access to a suitable site on the edge of the village of Peaslake. During the year several hundred hedging trees were planted around the boundaries of the site and work was started to secure boundaries and access to the site. The company plans to open membership of the garden to any member of the Parish of Shere once full ground and access works have been completed and raised beds installed. In the meantime periodic working parties will be organised from the community for activities such as tree planting.
Before the company was started, a survey of local residents was conducted to ascertain local views on usage of the land. This revealed strong support for food growing, and orchard and enhancing bio-diversity and wildlife. Subsequent to the company's formation, directors of the company have regularly attended the monthly Peaslake Community Council meetings in order to present any update on the garden and to hear feedback from the community.
No remuneration was received
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
