Company activities and impact

Make It Happen Parents CIC is a service-user-led organisation supporting families of children and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across Westminster. During the financial year, the company continued to benefit the community by: - Coproduction: working directly alongside parents, carers, and family members to shape services, ensuring that support is designed with, not just for, the people who use it, and that the lived experience of SEND families informs local decision-making. We continue to work closely with Westminster Council/ the Bi-borough, the ICB and local schools and services to make sure that the families' voices are heard by decision makers. - Tackling isolation: providing opportunities for families of children and adults with SEND to connect with one another, reducing the social isolation often experienced by parents and carers, particularly those managing complex or long-term caring responsibilities. - Raising awareness: increasing understanding of disability and the realities of caring roles among the wider community, professionals, and local services, helping to challenge stigma and improve how SEND families are supported and understood. This year we led on specific topics such as mental health and support for disabled adults.

Consultation with stakeholders

Stakeholder consultation and coproduction are at the core of Make It Happen Parents CIC's work. During the financial year, the company consulted with families of children and adults with SEND, and with other local organisations, through a range of ongoing channels: - Weekly in-person forums held at three venues across Westminster, Pimlico, Marylebone, and Bayswater, alongside weekly online forums, giving families regular, accessible opportunities to share their views and shape the organisation's work. - Community-based engagement, including coffee mornings held at local schools and other organisations, and direct one-to-one contact through the company's family support worker, ensuring families who may not engage online or in group settings are still heard. - Social media channels, where families actively share feedback and experiences, and weekly email updates, which keep the wider community informed and invite ongoing dialogue. - Surveys and focus groups, run ahead of each new term to identify priorities and shape the organisation's thematic focus for the coming period. - Case studies and recurring conversations, gathered both in person and online, which help the company identify patterns in family needs and inform how support is developed over time. In addition to consulting on its own service delivery, Make It Happen Parents CIC is also approached by other local charities seeking support to develop coproduction within their own work, reflecting its recognised expertise in this area. Feedback gathered through these channels directly informs the organisation's priorities, ensuring that the support provided remains responsive to the current needs of SEND families across Westminster.
