Mobilates CIC teaches accessible, inclusive exercise for people with long-term health conditions, chronic pain, fatigue, disabilities and mobility challenges. The company was set up as a CIC in June 2024 to ensure Mobilates could continue to support the community in a sustainable and purpose-led way. During the financial year 2025-2026, the company’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: Mobilates has continued to help people with long-term health conditions, chronic pain, fatigue and disabilities engage in movement in a way that feels safe, accessible and supportive. Many of the people we work with have previously experienced significant barriers to exercise, including pain, fear of flare-ups, fatigue, low confidence, financial barriers, inaccessible spaces, and feeling that mainstream fitness environments are not designed for them. Through live online and in-person classes, one-to-one support, subsidised access, community events and specialist projects, Mobilates has supported members to build confidence in what their bodies CAN do. This has contributed to improved wellbeing, increased confidence with movement, reduced isolation and a greater sense of belonging. The company’s activities have supported people to: - Engage in exercise in a way that is adapted to their body and health needs - Feel more confident taking part in movement and physical activity - Improve mobility, strength, balance and body awareness - Reduce isolation and feel part of a supportive community - Access movement from home, bed, chair, wheelchair, floor or standing - Manage symptoms, pain, fatigue and stress through gentle, supported movement - Build habits around movement in a way that feels sustainable - Feel seen, heard and included in a community led by people with lived experience Mobilates continued to deliver regular accessible classes including: - Bed, seated, standing and floor based Pilates online - Qigong, seated and standing - Seated Yoga - Love to Move - WalkFit - Togetherness - Book Club - In person classes in Exeter and Paddock Wood - Specialist accessible classes and workshops for partner organisations including EDS UK, Mast Cell Action, Virtual Village Hall, Pain Cafes - Delivered our first project funded by Sport England called LAEP – Low Income Access to Exercise Project. This combined Bed Pilates, Pain Reprocessing Therapy, one to ones and free/subsidised membership for 4 months. (See below) Mobilates also continued to develop its community support offer, recognising that many members are not only looking for exercise, but also connection, encouragement and a safe place to belong. This is particularly important for people who struggle to leave their homes, experience loneliness, or have previously felt excluded from exercise and community spaces. A key area of development during the year was LAEP funded by Sport England. This project was designed to reduce financial and confidence-based barriers to exercise by offering funded access to Mobilates for people with long-term health conditions. The programme included one-to-one support, free access to specialist classes, follow-up guidance and subsidised membership. This helped people who may otherwise have been unable to access safe, adapted exercise to take part in a supportive and inclusive environment. Mobilates’ latest impact data shows strong alignment with its intended outcomes. Among respondents who had been with Mobilates more than 12 months, they reported: - 93% improved quality of life - 74% enhanced their mobility - 73% felt more confident exercising - 70% experienced a reduction in symptoms - More than doubled the days they exercise per week from 1 to 2.5 days The data also showed that Mobilates is helping to reduce key barriers to movement. Members identified the following as particularly important: - Instructors with lived experience - Classes being adapted for individual needs - The ability to take part from home - The supportive community - The option to exercise from bed, chair, wheelchair, floor or standing - A gentle and encouraging approach to movement - Financially accessible and subsidised opportunities Mobilates has continued to create opportunities for people with disabilities, long-term health conditions and lived experience to contribute to the organisation. The company has provided paid work and volunteering opportunities for teachers, freelancers and volunteers who understand the community we serve. During the year, Mobilates also continued to build relationships with health, research and community partners. This included engagement with social prescribing networks, community health initiatives, NHS-aligned projects, academic partnerships and local community events. Mobilates has worked to strengthen its evidence base and better understand how inclusive digital and in-person exercise programmes can support people with long-term health conditions. Mobilates also took part in community and sector events, including work to support community appointment days, local accessible exercise opportunities, awareness raising, and collaborations with organisations supporting people with chronic illness, pain, fatigue, hypermobility and disability. During 2025, Mobilates delivered: - 21 regular long-term programmes that included online and in person classes and work for partner organisations – Mast Cell Action, EDS UK and Virtual Village Hall – over 860 hours of teaching - 31 one-off classes, workshops, events or taster sessions – 147 hours - Support to at least 489 individuals - Regular weekly engagement from approximately 143 people - 235 subsidised or funded memberships through projects such as LAEP and EDS UK Sport England project - Paid work for 6 freelance teachers, 2 interns and 1 employee all with living experience of long term health conditions - Volunteer opportunities for 12 volunteers Mobilates CIC has continued to create social value by improving access to exercise, reducing isolation, supporting wellbeing, creating inclusive employment and volunteering opportunities, and helping people with long-term health conditions feel more confident, connected and able to move in a way that works for them. The company remains committed to breaking down barriers to exercise and creating a community where people are supported to move safely, gently and confidently, with a focus on what their bodies CAN do whilst enhancing quality of life.
Mobilates CIC’s main stakeholders are its members, directors, teachers, contractors, volunteers, funders, partner organisations and wider community/referral partners. We consulted stakeholders through regular director discussions, member feedback, one-to-one consultations, surveys, class conversations, community groups, team meetings, volunteer discussions, project planning and partnership meetings. This helped ensure our activities were shaped by the needs and experiences of the people we support, as well as those involved in delivering, funding and developing the CIC’s work.
The aggregate amount of emoluments paid to or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £53,503 (2025: £23,200).
