During the period, the company began delivering community activities intended to promote social inclusion, wellbeing and community cohesion by enabling women to experience football in a safe, enjoyable and community-focused setting. Women met before Altrincham Football Club matches for food and refreshments, attended matches together and received scarves and further refreshments as part of the experience. The activities were provided without charge to participants and were funded by amounts advanced by a director. The company’s activities benefited the community in the following ways: 1) women, including those who may not previously have attended football matches, were able to take part in a welcoming group activity; 2) participants were given opportunities to build social connections and a sense of community around a shared interest; 3) practical and financial barriers to attending football were reduced through the provision of tickets, organised meeting arrangements, scarves and refreshments; and 4) the activities encouraged greater engagement by women with local football in a safe and inclusive environment. Any future surplus will be retained and applied to further the company’s community purposes.
The company’s stakeholders include women who take part in its activities, local football clubs, community partners and organisations that support the company’s work. During the period there was no formal stakeholder consultation held. The directors organised the activities and had direct informal contact with participants, providing opportunities for comments about their experience. No specific changes arose from a formal consultation during the period. The company intends to take account of feedback from participants and partner organisations when planning the type, location and format of future activities.
