Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognized in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognized in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognized only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
Hire purchase and leasing commitments
Assets obtained under hire purchase contracts or finance leases are capitalised in the balance sheet. Those held under hire purchase contracts are depreciated over their estimated useful lives. Those held under finance leases are depreciated over their estimated useful lives or the lease term, whichever is the shorter.
The interest element of these obligations is charged to profit or loss over the relevant period. The capital element of the future payments is treated as a liability.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.

A decision was made this year to reverse the revaluation and show the Freehold Land and Buildings at cost, less historic depreciation. This keeps the treatment of the Freehold in line with other fixed assets such as Plant and Machinery
Most of the freehold site and land occupied by the Company was valued by Patrick Warwick-Smith MRICS of Warwick Martel on 25th November 2016. The valuation was made on a current use basis and took no account of the significant development value of the site. The valuation was only for the 22,000 square feet factory site, and approximately 2 acres of land that it occupies and amounted to £2,000,000. The company owns a further 11 acres of land behind the factory site.
Barclays bank hold a fixed charge over the Bishopstoke Road freehold property and the two areas of land it stand on. THe charge does not cover the additional 11 acres of land. This charge allows Barclays to grant an overdraft facility, which at the time of this report is not being used.

| 10. | POST BALANCE SHEET EVENTS |
We returned to a profit in 2025 because the orders we had been expecting started to arrive in the middle of 2024. We had invested over £1m in 2020 to have capacity in anticipation of these orders, and depreciating this under-utilized plant, contributed to the losses of 2022 and 2023.
Last year, at the time of signing of the accounts, I said our order book was £8m and was rising. It is now over £13m which means we will have a good year in 2027 and 2028 even without further orders. Turnover for the 2026 financial year will be in the region over the £8m forecast here last year. This will produce excellent profits.
We have used some of those profits to further invest in plant to ensure we have even more capacity to be ready for our customers' demands.
