Company information

Hope Pier Limited is a private company limited by guarantee incorporated in England and Wales. The registered office is Hope Pier, Lower Mall, London, W6 9DJ.

1.1
Basis of preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102 “The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland” (“FRS 102”) and the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 as applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime. The disclosure requirements of section 1A of FRS 102 have been applied other than where additional disclosure is required to show a true and fair view.

The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the company. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, modified to include the revaluation of freehold properties and to include investment properties and certain financial instruments at fair value. The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below.

1.2
Going concern

Notwithstanding the company's net liabilities of £true958,979 (2024: £848,659) the financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. The company has reviewed its forecasts and sufficient resources to meet its liabilities as they fall due. The loans included in note 8 are owed to the members and are payable upon sale of their berths.

1.3
Income and expenditure

Turnover is measured at fair value of the consideration received by the company in respect rentals received from members, commission on sale of members berths or any other revenue generated in accordance with the members agreement.

Expenses include VAT where applicable as the company cannot reclaim it.

1.4
Intangible fixed assets - goodwill

The intangible fixed asset is measured using the revaluation model and relates to the acquisition of a property in 2016. This asset is stated at its fair value on the date of the latest revaluation less subsequent accumulated depreciation and any impairment losses, where applicable. Valuations are made on annual basis so that the carrying amount of the asset does not differ materially from its fair value. The intangible fixed asset is being amortised over its useful economic life of ten years.

1.5
Tangible fixed assets

Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of depreciation and any impairment losses.

Expenditure that creates, replaces or materially enhances an enduring asset used by the Company may be capitalised as a fixed asset. Individual items of expenditure with a cost of less than £1,000 shall be treated as revenue expenditure and expensed in the year incurred, unless the expenditure forms a part of a larger capital project or relates to the acquisition or construction of a significant asset.

Depreciation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their useful lives on the following bases:

Plant and equipment
5% Straight Line

The gain or loss arising on the disposal of an asset is determined as the difference between the sale proceeds and the carrying value of the asset, and is credited or charged to surplus or deficit.

1.7
Taxation

Taxation for the year comprises current tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.

Current taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.

Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.

2
Judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty

In the application of the company’s accounting policies, the directors are required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.

The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future periods.
