Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Intangible Assets – Software and Programs
Software and programs, including acquired intellectual property rights, Patents and associated source code, are recognised as intangible fixed assets where they are separately identifiable, controlled by the company and expected to generate future economic benefits.
Purchased software and related intellectual property are initially measured at cost, including directly attributable acquisition costs.
The assets are subsequently measured at cost less accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses.
Amortisation is charged on a straight-line basis over the estimated useful economic life of the asset, which is reviewed annually. The directors consider the useful economic life of software and related intellectual property to be 8 years.
The assets are reviewed for indicators of impairment at each reporting date and written down where their recoverable amount is less than their carrying value.
