The organisation provides a project named "Breaking Boundaries: Empowering the Black Community for early cancer detection". The project enabled us to run face to face and online workshops with specialist nurse in cancer, bringing awareness about breast cancer and prostate cancer mainly but also discussing other forms of cancer. The workshops were culture appropriate and translated to allow easy understanding from our participants. We focused our workshops on raising awareness of the early signs, symptoms, risk factors, debunking cultural myths, screening options, self-check demonstrations, nutritionists offering advice on healthier versions of cultural diets high in fat, salt, carbohydrates and teach portion control. We also had a demonstration of healthy alternatives in African food. We created a safe environment and testimonials of people who experienced cancer themselves or in the families and where to get help. We encouraged all participants to make appointments with the GP to get tested. The organisation had an event named "An Intergenerational party" to celebrate Christmas with the community.
