2.Accounting policies

2.1

Accounting convention

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention unless otherwise specified within these accounting policies and in accordance with FRS 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland' and the requirements of the Companies Act 2006. The disclosure requirements of Section 1A of FRS 102 have been applied other than where additional disclosure is required to show a true and fair view.

The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the company. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest pound.
The following principal accounting policies have been applied:

2.2

Cessation of trading

During the year, the company ceased operating its restaurant business, with trading activities ending on 26 January 2025. The directors are considering the future use of the property, and renting the property out. At the balance sheet date, the company's property was vacant and no rental activity had commenced.

2.3

Going concern

The company made a loss of £32,521 in the year (2024: £60,358) and is in a net liability position of £313,628 at the year end (2024: £281,107).
Assurance of support has been confirmed by the majority shareholder and director of the ultimate parent company. This confirmation of support has been made to the ultimate parent company and all subsidiaries including That Bournemouth Street Bar Limited and has been given for a period of at least twelve months from approval of these financial statements. Tangible fixed assets

2.Accounting policies (continued)

2.6

Impairment of fixed assets

At each reporting period end date, the company reviews the carrying amounts of its tangible assets to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss (if any). Where it is not possible to estimate the recoverable amount of an individual asset, the company estimates the recoverable amount of the cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs.

2.7

Stocks

Stocks, which consist of food and beverages, are stated at the lower of cost and estimated selling price and the liquor stocks are independently valued.

2.8

Cash at bank and in hand

Cash at bank and in hand are basic financial assets and include cash in hand and deposits held at call with banks.

2.9

Financial instruments

The company has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial Instruments' and Section 12 'Other Financial Instruments Issues' of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments.

Basic financial assets

Basic financial assets, which include debtors, balances due from connected companies and cash and bank balances, are initially measured at transaction price including transaction costs. Financial assets classified as receivable within one year are not amortised.

Basic financial liabilities

Basic financial liabilities, including creditors and loans from connected companies, are initially recognised at transaction price. Financial liabilities classified as payable within one year are not amortised.
Equity instruments
Equity instruments issued by the company are recorded at the proceeds received, net of transaction costs.

2.Accounting policies (continued)

2.10

Current and deferred taxation

Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the profit and loss account, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

2.11

Retirement benefits

Payments to defined contribution retirement benefit schemes are charged as an expense as they fall due.

2.12

Employee benefits

Judgements in applying accounting policies and key sources of estimation uncertainty

In the application of the company’s accounting policies, the directors are required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future periods.
Critical judgements
The following judgements (apart from those involving estimates) have had the most significant effect on amounts recognised in the financial statements.
Depreciation
An assessment is made of the useful economics lives of fixed assets, taking into account residual values, of the tangible assets, based on the directors' knowledge of the industry. There are periodic reviews to determine if depreciation rates are still appropriate and whether any further impairment is needed.
Recoverability of intercompany and related party balances
The company has balances due from related companies connected by common ownership. Management are of the opinion that these balances are fully recoverable by virtue of shareholder support which has been confirmed in writing and therefore no provision has been made against these balances.
