Principal activities of the company

The Eton Community Information Centre was set up to run Eton Information Centre. It provides both a shop and Information Centre in the same location, offering locals and visitors an assortment of arts, crafts, Eton College memorabilia and local produce. It also encourages visitor to paton the many museums Eton and Eton Wick has to offer as well as highlighting the many walks to discover the local area.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured ar rhe fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life Fixtures and fittings - straight line over 5 years

    Other accounting policies

    Stocks Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items. Financial instuments The company only enters into basic financial instruments transactions that result in the recognition of financial assets and liabilities like trade and other debtors and creditors, loans from banks and other third parties , loans to related parties and investments in non-puttable ordinary shares. Financial assets that are measured at cost and are amortised cost are assessed at the end of each reporting period for objective evidence of impairment. If objective evidence of impairment is found, an impairments loss is recognised in profit or loss. Financial assets and liabilities are offset and the net amount reported in the Balance Sheet when there is an enforceable right to set off the recognised amoutns and there is an intention ro settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously. Taxation Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income and Expenditure Account, except to the extentthat it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the Balance Sheet date. Donations and Grants Where donations and grants are recevied for specific purpose or use, income is allocated at the same period as the period in which expentiture occurs. Where such income is recevied but where the relevant expenditure has not been incurred by the year end, the income is deferred until the next period.

Company activities and impact

Eton Community Interest Company was set up to run the Eton Information Centre. The centre provides information on the museums and gallaries around Eton & Eton Wick and encourages visitors to discover what they offer. It also encourages patronage of the many shops and restaurants in the High Street and via the Eton Walkway, many visitors see the great things Eton has to offer whilst also learning about the vast history of the area. In addition to this, we host an annual Art Fair which attracts hundred of visitors to the areas are well as givnig the local community a chance to see the various local artists we have in the areas. For a couple of weeks, the whole high street becomes a vast art gallery with many of the local shops allowing artists to use the shop fronts to display and sell their art. The Eton Information Centre is also a shop selling a vast array of local art, crafts, Eton College memorabilia and some local food produce. The Eton CIC also acts as a local hub and we ecourages locals of all ages to come for a catch, from lonely elderly residents to new parents enquiring about local baby and toddler clubs, we have a two seats available and a person on hand already ready for a chat.

Consultation with stakeholders

The CIC Stakeholders include: Staff Volunteers Visitors Artists Annual appriaisal are held with staff to give and gain feedback. Visitors feedback is collected and used to amend our offerings. Artists feedback is gained and the repeat Artists demonstrate that the Eton CIC is meeting their needs.
