The transfer of the land to the Community Interest Company (CIC) has been structured to provide a long-term benefit to the local community. Rather than requiring residents to make annual financial contributions towards the maintenance and upkeep of the open spaces, the land was transferred together with a commuted sum specifically intended to fund these ongoing maintenance obligations. This approach provides several key community benefits: Residents are not subject to recurring annual maintenance charges or service fees for the upkeep of the transferred land. The commuted sum provides financial certainty for the maintenance of the areas over the agreed period, helping to ensure that the land remains safe, attractive, and accessible. The arrangement reduces the financial burden on individual households while ensuring that the public open spaces continue to be managed responsibly. The CIC is able to focus on delivering long-term stewardship of the land for the benefit of the whole community, rather than relying on annual resident contributions to meet essential maintenance costs. The transfer supports the preservation and enhancement of community assets, ensuring that green spaces remain available for recreation, wellbeing, biodiversity, and environmental value. Overall, this funding model demonstrates a commitment to delivering lasting community benefit by securing the future maintenance of the land without imposing ongoing financial obligations on local residents. The CIC's role is to ensure that these assets continue to be managed effectively and in the interests of the community as a whole.
