Company activities and impact The objects of the Company are to provide positive activities which benefit the community and, in particular (without limitation), to provide a counselling and support service to residents and people working in Rossendale and surrounding areas. The main focus of the organisation is suicide prevention, reducing social isolation and promotion of social inclusion. Developing confident and positive mindsets, the organisation creates resilience and healthy mental health awareness. Obtaining funding enhanced our free 1-2-1 and group support sessions. Bringing likeminded people together and encouraging users of the groups to speak out about shared experiences broke down barriers and opened pathways to openly talk about ill mental health. One of our funded projects, 'Spring into Action', continued to focus on renovating and maintaining a local village green. The project 'was funded by NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, supported by BPRCVS. The project provided a further 45 session spaces (in addition to 107 session spaces from last year), approximately 60 hours delivered. Majority of the grant funding was spent on the village green maintenance equipment (such as strimmer's and tools etc) this provided sustainability of the groups and the sessions continue to be provided using the equipment purchased. Funding from National Lottery gave us the opportunity to create paid staff opportunities on a casual basis. The work conducted included multiple weekly craft and social groups to reduce isolation and improve social inclusion. The groups attending our sessions congregated in the local Tesco community rooms and were given the opportunity to decorate the setting throughout the 4 seasons. We continued to offer support to individuals and groups and occupied some space within the local community where we offered free training sessions as devised by Zero Suicide Alliance. We continue to reach out to members of our services through social media platfonns and provide self help techniques to help local people cope with changes that affect their mental and physical health. We use our ever-building network to signpost the people that we engage with. Our impact questionnaires highlight the changes we are making to people's lives are positive.
The company's stakeholders are residents and workers of Rossendale, and in the surrounding area. The directors of the company have lived in Rossendale tor a number of years and developed the business model for the organisation based on impacts reported and on their experience of dealing with ill mental health in varying capacities, We amalgamate groups to bring people together. Our research has enabled us to reach out to vulnerable people that still don’t have access to the internet in their homes so we continue to leaflet drop in these homes to encourage residents to join us in social groups and special events. Funding secured for VE day brought many members of the community together.
