The Girls Dance & Muay Thai Programme was created to improve mental wellbeing and access to physical activity for young girls in the Deptford community. During the financial year ending 30 October 2024, we delivered free sessions at MGM Gym, providing a welcoming environment where girls could be active, build confidence and connect with peers. Feedback from families and local partners highlighted a lack of female-only physical activity spaces, affordable after-school and evening activities, and programmes supporting mental wellbeing through movement. The project aimed to increase regular participation in physical activity, support positive mental wellbeing and emotional resilience, build confidence, self-esteem and social connection, and provide a safe, inclusive space for girls. Approximately 36 free dance and Muay Thai sessions were delivered by qualified instructors for participants of mixed ages and abilities.
