ProSphere CIC is a community interest company based in East London established to remove barriers to employment, improve confidence and create inclusive opportunities for disadvantaged residents. ProSphere CIC is led by directors with over 25 years of combined experience in employability, recruitment, education, community engagement and partnership development. During the year the company moved from establishment into active delivery, developing governance, safeguarding, data protection and partnership systems. ProSphere CIC secured £9,850 funding from London Borough of Havering to deliver the Step Forward employability programme supporting refugees and local residents. Activities included CV support, interview preparation, digital skills including AI confidence, labour market awareness, wellbeing sessions, one-to-one guidance, industry insight sessions and distribution of wellbeing and digital toolkits. Beneficiaries included refugees, newly arrived residents and local jobseekers experiencing labour market disadvantage. Approximately 45 refugees were supported through programme activities during the reporting period. Impact achieved included over 120 residents engaged through a Jobcentre Plus careers fair, over 200 residents engaged across activities, 11 participants securing confirmed job offers, and others progressing into interviews, training, work experience and CSCS pathways. Participants reported improved confidence, job readiness and digital confidence.
Stakeholders consulted included participants, Jobcentre Plus, London Borough of Havering, employers, schools, colleges, community organisations, and support agencies. Key partners included New City College, Aston Group, and Carlisle Support Services. Consultation took place through informal discussions, referral meetings and employer engagement activity. Feedback highlighted demand for practical employability support, digital confidence, wellbeing support and direct employer access. In response, ProSphere CIC expanded one-to-one support, delivered industry insight sessions and provided wellbeing and digital toolkits. These partnerships enabled ProSphere CIC to reach more residents, deliver careers and employability activity, support referrals into training and employment, and connect participants with practical progression opportunities.
