The company was established to improve participation and enthusiasm for contemporary dance in the community and support the professional development of local artists. In the period November 2024-October 2025, we delivered 4 blocks of community dance classes at Avoniel Leisure Centre in East Belfast: Creative dance for secondary school age children and an adult’s dance for wellbeing class. In Spring 2025 we ran a community engagement programme delivering 3 schools workshops and running an intensive for 12-16 year olds with funding secured from Belfast City Council. The intensive course was called ‘Excel’ and was delivered with support from Crescent Arts Centre Belfast, over 5 sessions in March, culminating in a sharing to friends and family. In further community work, we partnered with Belfast City Mission, Glencairn to deliver a community dance week in July for children in this deprived area of North Belfast. This culminated in a performance to the community and the opportunity for children to meet and share the stage with professional dance troupe ‘Ad Deum’ from Houston Texas. In supporting artist development, director Suzannah McCreight delivered a series of one to one movement mentoring sessions to a local disabled multi-disciplinary performance artist. We have been fundraising towards future community arts projects to be delivered next year. Company Director Suzannah McCreight has been fundraising towards an international exchange with Brazilian choreographer Luciana Lara. We plan to support the project with delivery of a professional development workshop in Belfast and to promote an impromptu performance in the streets of the city to passers-by later in 2026.

The company’s stakeholders are 1. local dance artists and other performers with an interest in movement education and professional development. 2. other companies who require the service of a dance teacher or choreographer 3. charities or education providers who are interested in dance workshops for their activities 4. participants in our community classes. We consulted with secondary level schools as we sought to deliver subsidised workshops for our community engagement project. This has helped us build more relationships with schools for the future, even if they were unable to book workshops for this project. We have begun consulting with community venues and a charity to find a partnership situation for an arts for older people project we are planning. We continue to gather feedback from class participants as we decide when and whether we run future community classes.
