Company activities and impact

The purpose of the CIC is to engage with 16+ individuals when working on community refurb projects, where they get an introduction to trade skills, painting, plastering, groundworks and more. Our second project was to work on the landscaping and building and pipe repairing of a pri-vate building that was being renovating for homeless care. This involved taking down old, wooded stairs next to the outside hut and digging up the gar-den. We then built a new staircase bench and painted the hut. We then painted all the stone blocks around the garden and gate. After the garden had been completed, we moved onto renovating the building face, this evolved us smoothing down the rusty old pipes using hand and power tools and also clean-ing and removing all the old window scalant and replaced with new. Due to the hight we hired apasma tower where I trained the candidates on how to erect the tower and move it safely from position to position. This allowed us to work on the higher are-as. When the building and pipes were all cleaned, we painted the pipes walls and window frames using different tools from hand tools to spray guns rollers and extensions. During this time we found out that the left side of the building had damp in the walls we then had to strip the paint and apply damp proofing then repainted all the walls. During this time our candidates worked with Full PPE Sandpaper and strippers Hand sanders Drills Saws Shovels Spades Rakes Paint brushes Spray paint guns Pasma tower Ladders Small steps Active learning on small power tools, manual handing, coshh, paint and decorating tech-niques, landscaping and gardening, joinery and building and PPE
