Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have remained unchanged from the previous year, and also have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives:
Land & buildings
Straight line over 50 Years
During the year the directors identified that a freehold property purchased on 21 December 2021 for £135,000 had not previously been recognised in the company’s financial statements. The property was acquired for the benefit of the company and was funded personally by a director. The omission of the property and the related director’s loan from prior years’ financial statements has been treated as a prior period error.
The error has been corrected by recognising the property within land and buildings at cost and recognising a corresponding loan from a director. Depreciation has been provided on the buildings element of the property from the date it was available for use, in accordance with the company’s accounting policy of depreciating land and buildings on a straight‑line basis over 50 years.
The effect of the correction on the comparative figures for the year ended 31 October 2024 is as follows:
increase in land and buildings at 31 October 2024: £135,000;
increase in loans from directors at 31 October 2024: £135,000;
decrease/(increase) in retained earnings at 31 October 2024: £2,755 (representing cumulative depreciation to that date).
The effect on the opening balances at 1 November 2024 is:
increase in land and buildings: £135,000;
increase in loans from directors: £135,000;
decrease in retained earnings: £2,755
The impact on the profit for the year ended 31 October 2024 is a depreciation charge of £2,755 reducing profit for that year by the same amount
