During this financial year, our CIC has continued to deliver specialist support to families whose children are neurodivergent, including those who are Autistic, ADHD, have a PDA profile, or are on the pathway to a diagnosis. Our work has focused on ensuring families feel listened to, understood, and supported at a time when statutory services remain overwhelmed and difficult to access. We have raised awareness of the PDA profile across Leeds and Bradford by engaging directly with families and community networks. Our bespoke, individualised support followed an assess–plan–do–review model, enabling us to respond to each child’s unique needs. With the employment of an additional part-time staff member, we have been able to reach a greater number of beneficiaries and offer more timely support. The difference our work has made is significant. Families reported feeling understood for the first time, increased confidence in navigating systems, and grateful to have someone at the end of the phone who will listen without judgement. We provided advocacy to secure robust EHCPs and appropriate educational placements, ensuring children’s needs were accurately identified and met. Parent/carers were supported to complete essential letters and forms to access further services, reducing stress and barriers to support. Our book loan service continued to be an important resource, giving parents and children access to high-quality information texts relevant to their circumstances. We also maintained our monthly face-to-face support group, which remains a vital lifeline for isolated parents seeking connection, reassurance, and practical guidance. Feedback has fed into plans to expand the areas in which we offer in person support groups and an online directory of highly recommended books. The project has benefited neurodivergent children and young people aged 0–25, many with a PDA profile or awaiting diagnosis, as well as their parents/carers. As waiting lists for statutory services have continued to grow, families have increasingly turned to us for timely, specialist support. Local services including CAMHS Crisis Line in Leeds now regularly signpost and refer families to us due to our established reputation and impact. We continually reflected on the project’s effectiveness by gathering feedback from families and young people and making adjustments where needed. Detailed reports have been compiled to support future funding bids and demonstrate the ongoing value of our work. This has led to a substantial bid being successful for a further two-year project which will begin next year. Our not-for-profit Non School Alternative Provision, established for neurodivergent young people unable to access mainstream education, has continued to grow. We have seen increasing numbers of young people accessing the provision, supported by highly qualified staff who deliver a safe, nurturing, and tailored learning environment. Five Local Authorities and an increasing number of schools have commissioned places with us to provide part of an alternative education package for their students.
