COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

SAW & STAGE C.I.C.

Company Number: 12953137 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 October 2025

Company activities and impact

Saw & Stage CIC runs The Cornish Bank, a venue for live music and performing arts in Falmouth. In our financial year 2024-25 the company has been of benefit to the community in the following ways. -Continuing to bring a diverse array of acts to a remote and previously under-served part o the UK. This includes touring artists from all over the world. We believe this allows for a cultural exchange that would not happen otherwise and that this is of great value to local residents who are our primary stakeholders. -Saw and Stage CIC and The Cornish Bank also promote the development of local artistic talent. In the year in question we began a new night for new and emerging bands and performers providing an opportunity for young people to grow and showcase their talents as well as meet and develop new projects. - The Cornish Bank is a community venue and as such offers free use of the venue for community run events. These are predominantly live music events but also talks and film screenings. We have also worked with several other CIC’s including hosting a fundraiser event for Falmouth food coop and hosting film screenings from 99p Films CIC. -The Cornish Bank continues to run a muti-venue music festival called Wanderfal which sees Saw & Stage CIC take on programming events across the town. This leads to cultural as well as financial benefit to participation venues. This year we partnered with a local Church (The Church of King Charles the Martyr) in Falmouth. As well as exposing thousands of people to this community space they wouldn't otherwise experience this also creates valuable revenue for another community institution. - In this year Saw & Stage collaborated with the Falmouth University and its events management course to offer work experience to some of its students including short apprenticeships. - After holding a successful crowdfunder to fund the creation of a new pub at The Cornish Bank we have been able to create new employment opportunities.

Consultation with stakeholders

- Our primary stakeholders are the people of Falmouth and the surrounding areas who use The Cornish Bank on a regular basis by attending events. Further stakeholders are the people who host events, particularly community event hosts and local event promoters. Finally there are the band and performers who use the venue. These can be local but also national and international acts. - After holding a successful crowd funding campaign in the previous financial year we created a community WhatsApp group to allow for direct communication between the stakeholders and representatives of the CIC including company directors. This has been a fruitful source of feedback allowing for an ongoing consultative process. - External events promoters have a significant impact in the nature and direction of The Cornish Bank by co curating the program of events that happen at the venue. We encourage cultural diversity in our programming over commercial motives.
