UCMECSA CIC is a community interest company dedicated to supporting early-career academic researchers and students in the field of UK-China media and cultural studies. Over the past year, the company has actively engaged in initiatives designed to foster academic growth, professional development, and knowledge exchange within this specialised community. Key Activities and Achievements 1. Academic Enrichment through Reading Clubs: (1). Organised four online reading clubs, inviting four distinguished scholars in UK-China media and culture to present and discuss academic papers and books. (2). Provided early-career researchers and students with opportunities to engage in critical discussions, gain new research perspectives, and stay informed about the latest developments in the field. (3). Facilitated academic networking and collaborative learning, strengthening the intellectual foundation of the community. 2. Career Development Support (1). Hosted two job-hunting experience-sharing sessions, featuring young scholars who successfully secured academic positions in both China and the UK. (2). Delivered practical guidance on application strategies, interview preparation, and career planning, equipping attendees with essential skills for navigating the competitive academic job market. (3). Enhanced participants' confidence and employability by providing firsthand insights into recruitment processes in different academic systems. 3. Information Dissemination via Digital Platforms (1). Maintained an active WeChat official account, regularly publishing updates on academicjob opportunities, international conferences, and relevant industry news. (2). Served as a vital resource hub, enabling community members to access timely information for career advancement and academic engagement. (3). Promoted greater connectivity within the UK-China media and cultural studies network, supporting members in their professional and scholarly pursuits.
