Directors' report period ended
The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 January 2026
Principal activities of the company
Additional information
Main Risks The directors have identified two main risks to the business. Failure of equipment from weather events or breakdown could lead to substantial unexpected costs. The company has purchased insurance against weather events and is putting in place significant mitigation measures with the aim of reducing the impact of equipment failures. The company’s ability to obtain new customers is very limited. A significant number of our existing customers cancelling their contracts during 2026 could result in the company being unable to continue in the medium term. During 2026, the Company is implementing a risk mitigation plan which will address many of its most significant operating risks, thus improving the resilience of its service with the aim of reducing the tendency of customers to cancel contracts. Significant changes to our operating model have allowed prices to be reduced to a more competitive level. Going Concern The directors are satisfied that the company is a going concern. In taking this view, the directors have taken the following into account: there are no outstanding capital expenditure commitments; the number of customers contracted is sufficient to support the service; the company holds significant cash reserves to meet contractual commitments if an unexpectedly large number of customers discontinue payments or to meet a short term revenue shortfall.

The company provided broadband services to the community and a limited number of others throughout the year, providing vital communication links enabling home working, education, arrangement of deliveries and social communication as more and more services move to online provision. The area served has limited affordable alternative broadband services, with only one commercial supplier. Drimnin Community Broadband maximises the access to affordable, superfast internet services for the community. Hands on, community-based support assists those less proficient with the technology. The Board began considering whether its main purpose could be met by commercial providers during the year and this analysis was completed in 2026/7. At the time of writing, the Board had already concluded in May 2026 that Drimnin Community Broadband still has a role to play in enhancing life in our target community. The Board developed a new operating model for the Company during the year and began the process of implementation. This work will continue throughout 2026. The revised operating model will lead to substantially reduced costs. As Drimnin Community Broadband operates on not-for-profit principles, the benefits of cost savings will come through in enhanced capital investment and reduced charges to our customers in 2026/27.
The Stakeholders are members of the Drimnin Community and the wider Morvern Community. Consultation on service issues takes place via email through the normal course of doing business. In addition, the volunteer maintenance team provides valuable additional feedback on opinions within the community.- No additional consultation with stakeholders has taken place.
