From October 2024 to November 2025, CivDivCIC supported the Armed Forces community, especially Black, Caribbean, Commonwealth and other under-represented veterans, serving personnel, reservists and families. The CIC offered information, advice, advocacy and signposting on housing, employment, health and wellbeing, welfare benefits, education and specialist veteran services. This helped beneficiaries navigate statutory and voluntary support and reduced barriers for veterans and their families. The organisation worked with the West Indian Association of Service Personnel (WASP) and community partners to engage veterans through remembrance, events, outreach and networking. These activities promoted inclusion, reduced isolation and recognised the contribution of Caribbean, Commonwealth and UK Armed Forces veterans. CivDivCIC strengthened partnerships with local authorities, veterans’ charities, community organisations and public agencies to improve referrals and collaboration. It also prepared to establish a VALOUR Recognised Centre, working with partners on a coordinated “no wrong door” approach across South London and neighboring boroughs. The organisation improved governance, policies, digital infrastructure and capacity to support sustainable, high-quality services. This included developing procedures, strengthening safeguarding and data protection, and preparing funding applications for long-term veterans’ services. Overall, CivDivCIC increased awareness of veteran support, strengthened sector collaboration, improved access to information and specialist services, and laid foundations for expanded community provision. It continues to promote inclusion, reduce disadvantages and help veterans and families live healthier, more connected and independent lives.
